Anglo American Platinum Limited (Anglo Platinum) is the world's largest primary producer of platinum, accounting for about 38% of the world's annual supply. Based in South Africa, most of the group's operations lie to the northwest and north of Johannesburg.
Richards Bay Minerals is a subsidiary of Rio Tinto in South Africa producing Titanium Dioxide from mineral sands and operating one of the world’s largest titanium mines and smelters. A total of 24 projects were implemented during the first Energy Leadership Program leading to significant energy savings achieved primarily through load shifting projects. The breakeven point of these projects was achieved under a year.
In Operation since 1956 Palabora Copper (Pty) Limited is the only producer of refined copper in South Africa and provides the local market with 85% of its copper requirements. ELP 1 was designed to run over 3 and a half years, concluding the end of 2015. Twenty nine of the developed projects were implemented saving 120GWh per annum.
