3.3Kv Switchgear and Variable Speed Drives in Y2 MCC awaiting final commissioning

In a collaborative effort between Electrical Systems, Engineering Design Solutions, Ensight and the Roaster plant, RBM will be installing “First for RBM” medium-voltage variable speed drive (VSD) control systems onsite. This project was triggered due to the end-of-life state of the 3.3kV switchgear on the Y1 and Y2 electrical boards. The factory that produced this particular switchgear closed more than 18 years ago. The electrical equipment is obsolete and presents a real-time risk to our electrical personnel due to five high-energy failure incidents that occurred over the last eight years. The project replacement value equates to R26.7 million and will be handled in two phases.

Ensight Competition Winners Rewarded at Anglo American Waterval

Last week the Waterval Manager, Mark Zaborowski took some time off his busy schedule to meet and congratulate the Ensight competition winners for the months of June and July 2016. A total number of six vouchers were given away by Shana Baumgartner from Ensight Energy Solutions to five deserving Waterval Smelter employees. They values of the vouchers range from R 1000 1st Prize, R500 second Prize and R 250 3rd Prize.

The Energy Leadership Program at Anglo American Platinum Smelters

Ensight and Anglo American Platinum’s Smelters partnered in an Energy Leadership Program during June 2015.  This ELP focused on the smelters located in Rustenburg, Northam and Polokwane, as well as the Converter plant which is also located in Rustenburg.  Our teams mobilised in June 2015 for the Rustenburg operations, whilst Mortimer and Polokwane smelters followed suit in January 2016.
